Karoline Kurkova wears Lady Fozaza as she visits Dubai

Karolína Isela Kurkova is a Czech model, best known as a former Victoria's Secret Angel, and actress. Mario Testino said of Kurkova: "The proportions of her body and her face, as well as her energy level, make her a model who could fit almost into any moment." Vogue editor Anna Wintour called her the "next supermodel".

Kurkova is among the world's top-earning models, having earned an estimated $5 million in the year 2007. She was placed 6th in the Forbes annual list of the highest earning models.

As she arrived yesterday in Dubai, Karolina Kurkova went out and about with our beloved Zoya Sakr to end the night with a tweet saying:

Jean Paul Gaultier to launch new streetwear line

Gaultier, the enfant terrible of the fashion world, is to launch a younger line for men and women in 2014.

French designer Jean Paul Gaultier is set to add a streetwear branch to his fashion empire, which already features ready-to-wear, haute couture, fragrance and kidswear.

The name of the line is yet to be revealed, but WWD have broken the news that the range will express Gaultier's signature sartorial style and be launched in 2014.

The deal sees the French fashion house team up with Italian manufacturer Ittierre SpA, who call Gaultier one of the "most relevant fashion designers ever, with a global appeal."

60-year-old Gaultier's flamboyant catwalk collections are one of the highlights of Paris Fashion Week; his spring/summer 2013 show was an homage to the pop stars of the Eighties - with Madonna, Boy George and David Bowie lookalikes stalking the catwalk, while his Amy Winehouse-inspired collection for last summer's haute couture range grabbed headlines worldwide.

Gaultier's latest design foray can be enjoyed for under £1: bottles of Diet Coke adorned with his beloved Breton stripe are currently on sale.

Karl Lagerfeld teams up with Melissa

Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld will design four collections for eco-friendly Brazilian footwear brand Melissa.

Karl Lagerfeld has embarked on yet another collaboration, this time with plastic footwear brand Melissa.

The eco-friendly Brazilian label has already enjoyed successful tie-ups with the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Jason Wu, Gareth Pugh, Liberty London, Pedro Laurenco and Victoria's Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio, but believe Lagerfeld is their most exciting yet.

"In one of the most exciting collaborations the company has seen, Karl Lagerfeld the most iconic designers of the 21st Century, has extended his fashion reign into our world of MELISSA," said Paulo Pedó, the CEO fof Melissa. "Karl's design talent synonymous with couture has been translated into footwear, bridging the gap between high-end and commercial, extending our customer base and making his name accessible for all."

The brand has been championing recycled plastic through its bubblegum-scented footwear for 25 years, making shoes with a "zero waste ethos" by recycling 99.9 per cent of factory water and waste as well as overstocked shoes.

"We are very excited about the partnership with Melissa who have been great in translating Karl's inspirations and designs into truly ironic fun fashion products that many women in the world will happily wear," added the CEO of Lagerfeld, Pier Paolo Righi.

First look at Rihanna's collection for River Island

Rihanna has given us a preview of her debut collection for River Island, by wearing it out and sharing snaps from the set of the ad campaign.

The navy blue jumpsuit is, according to River Island, a taster of what's to come - and that seems to be clean lines, and a sports-luxe vibe - and, as River Island's CEO told us last week, "people will be surprised, it's not necessarily what they're expecting." Ooo, intriguing. We also know that the collection will feature bustier tops, as Rihanna's stylist mentioned during her recent 777 tour .

Singer Riri has also offered up another preview by tweeting a photo from the set of the ad campaign, which has been shot by Mario Sorrenti and appears to star British model Jourdan Dunn and Sudanese-American model Ataui Deng.

"Just directed my first ad campaign for my new collection with River Island, Spring/Summer 2013!! And that's a wrap at the end of a 2 day shoot w/ MARIO SORRENTI," she posted.

Kim Kardashian reveals her Lip Damage

What with her reality shows, endorsement deals, fashion lines and clothing stores, it seems that Kim Kardashian never stops working.

And all that hard work seemed to have a taken its toll on the busy reality star as she flew into Miami on Sunday.

Tired looking Kim revealed a painful-looking large sore on her upper lip, along with blemishes on her chin.

Dressed down Kim had tied her hair back in a simple bun for her flight, while she wore a simple and conservative outfit of black trousers and white blazer.
It wouldn't be surprising if Kim were feeling a little under the weather.

The reality star had just stepped off an 18 hour flight - which even in first class is bound to be a strain. She jokingly tweeted: '18 hour flight...fun!'

Adding to the stress on her body the reality star was returning from a three-day whirlwind tour of the Gulf, in which she opened milkshake shops in Kuwait and Bahrain.

It was just the latest long haul flight for permanently jet lagged Kim. In recent weeks she has visited Italy, London and Los Angeles.

But there isn't likely to be much of a break for Kim, who is in the midst of filming her new reality show, Kourtney And Kim Take Miami.

Kim suffers from the skin condition psoriasis, and on her reality show has previously talked about how she uses makeup to disguise the effects.

The hereditary disease was passed down from her mother Kris Jenner.  

And while the condition is incurable, the best way to manage it is to lead a 'slower-paced life.'  
However busy Kim has conceded that this is impossible, adding: 'People don't understand the pressure on me to look perfect.'

Net-A-Porter to Launch Print Magazine

Luxury online shopping destination Net-A-Porter will launch a newsstand publication within the next 12 months.

Speaking at a conference last week, CEO Mark Sebba revealed the news, saying: "It isn't a secret that Net-a-Porter will be publishing a major fashion magazine within the next 12 months or so", noting that the company still sees print as important.

The site already has a weekly digital magazine which is viewable online and through their iPad app. Last year it ventured into print for the first time when a limited number of copies of its spring/summer 2011 magazine, featuring Alexa Chung on the cover, was sent out to corporate clients.

Although Sebba reportedly let that cat out of the bag too soon, industry sources have confirmed to WWD that a magazine is indeed in the works, although months away from any official plans being actioned.

But Jennifer Lopez showed fans a simple side to her on Sunday as she took her world tour to Malaysia.
The 43-year-old shared a snap of her relaxing in her hotel room in Kuala Lampur, resting her head on the shoulder of her tattooed toy boy Casper Smart.

The mother of four-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony appeared make-up free as she kept her hair tied up in bun and donned a casual top.

Just hours later, the star was hardly low-key as she took to the stage to perform the next show in her series of gig dates.

Jennifer dazzled fans with perfectly applied products to enhance her looks and displayed a much fuller mane of almost lion-like proportions.
She graced the dancing platform in a sequin-embellished and sheer bodysuit which she teamed with heeled ankle boots.

The special dance shoes enabled her to pull off some impressive moves in front of the crowd at Stadium Medeka.

J-Lo's tour will continue until December 22.

Kim Kardashian Gets Attacked in Bahrain!!

Just hours after reality TV star Kim Kardashian gushed about her impressions of Bahrain, riot police fired tear gas to disperse more than 50 hardline Islamic protesters denouncing her presence in the Gulf kingdom.

The clashes took place just before Kardashian opened the Bahrain branch of her Millions of Milkshakes shop.

An Associated Press journalist saw protesters chanting "God is Great" near the shopping complex in Riffa, some 20 kilometres (12 miles) south of the capital Manama. The demonstrators were cleared before Kardashian appeared late Saturday.

Earlier, she posted glowing remarks about Bahrain on her Twitter account, calling it "the prettiest place on earth." It was re-Tweeted by Bahrain's foreign minister.

Is it a sincere tweet? Or just an attempt to smooch things up?? In any case, we love you Kim Kardashian.

Zara bans toxic fashion

Just nine days after Greenpeace launched its report 'Toxic Threads: The Big Fashion Stitch-Up', high street giant Zara has gone into detox.

As the party season commences, high street giant Zara is about to embark on the ultimate detox. The 1975-born Spanish clothing label has promised to eradicate all releases of hazardous chemicals throughout its entire supply chain and products by 2020, following public pressure in response to Greenpeace's Detox campaign.

Zara's commitment comes just nine days after Greenpeace launched its report: 'Toxic Threads: The Big Fashion Stitch-Up' in Beijing on November 20. Having already named and shamed Victoria's Secret for the levels of phthalates found in the brands lingerie - so high that " if that product was a toy it would not be permitted in the EU " - the environmental activists have spurred more than 315,000 people to join the 2011-launched Detox campaign. Zara have seen over 700 people protesting in front of stores around the world, since last Tuesday.

With the eco stakes hotting up - and, most importantly, Miranda Kerr threatening to denounce her position as a Victoria's Secret 'Angel' due to the brand's toxic nature - will the weeks ahead see the likes of other high street chains succumb to the detox?

Rei Kawakubo collaborates with Hermès

Rei Kawakubo, the founder of fashion label Comme des Garçons, has teamed up with Hermès to design two collections of silk scarves.

Rei Kawakubo, the publicity-shy founder of avant-garde label Comme des Garçons, has teamed up with Hermès to create two limited-edition collections of the French brand's iconic silk scarves, or carrés, as they are better known.

Named Comme des Carrés, the collaboration will hit stores in February. The first collection, "Noir et Blanc", will feature five scarves in various black-and-white designs and be sold exclusively in Comme des Garçons stores in Tokyo's Aoyama neighbourhood, New York and Paris. The second, "Couleur", will be more colourful and stocked at both the London and Tokyo branches of Dover Street Market.

Christian Louboutin’s first UK mens' shop

Mayfair's Dover Street welcomes French label Christian Louboutin's men-only shoe emporium.

His red soles are synonymous with the heel-clad feet of Victoria Beckham, Rihanna and Kate Moss, but now Christian Louboutin has a dedicated store to cater to his male fans.

A two-story retail space on London's Dover Street - also home to Acne, Vanessa Bruno and McQ - has opened its doors, and there's not a stiletto in sight.

Decked in a red carpet described by Louboutin HQ as a "deeper, more masculine hue" than the one decorating its women's' stores, lashings of leather hides adorn the space, where spike-studded loafers and gold hi-tops take centre stage.

The London boutique is Christian Louboutin's fourth men's-only store; two in the US were launched in recent months following on from the first in Paris last year, which was opened to accommodate the growing demand and popularity of the brand's masculine offering.

Saint Laurent Paris CEO defends Hedi Slimane

Paul Deneve, the president and CEO of Saint Laurent Paris, has written a letter to trade publication WWD scolding them for pitting Hedi Slimane against Dior's creative director Raf Simons in a recent article.

Paul Deneve, the president and CEO of Saint Laurent Paris, has criticised fashion industry publication Women's Wear Daily for an article which he felt inappropriately pitted Hedi Slimane, the creative director of Saint Laurent Paris, against Raf Simons, the creative director of Dior.

After reading the article titled 'Paris Match' by WWD journalist Miles Socha, Deneve felt compelled to write a letter to the trade journal outlining his problems with the piece, which compared Slimane's debut at YSL to Simons's ready-to-wear debut at Dior. The letter was today published by WWD .

Deneve begins by accusing the publication of inaccurately reflecting the reviews Hedi Slimane received for his debut womenswear collection at the most recent Paris Fashion Week.

"First, the article summarises the reviews as "comparatively tepid" for "Slimane's reverential treatment of smokings (tuxedos) and bohemian dresses," only quoting three editors, one of them admittedly partial (Cathy Horyn: "a cheerleader" for Raf Simons, the article says)," writes Deneve. "This does not reflect the highly positive coverage Hedi Slimane received from the press commentators around the world, from France to Italy, Japan, China and the U.S."

Deneve goes on to say that he regrets that the well-respected publication reduced the "collective talent of all designers showing in Paris to a so-called duel between two fashion houses and two men."

Paris Hilton angers Saudis by opening store in Mecca

Paris Hilton's fifth handbag and accessories shop in Saudi Arabia has been accused of affronting the principals of Islam, and earned her a backlash of Twitter abuse in the process.

The American socialite and hotel heiress who's Twitter is awash with optimistic, life-affirming titbits such as - "Smile, because you're beautiful... Stand strong, because haters can't bring you down" and "I love black and white photographs. They are always so timeless" - has sparked controversy in the Middle East. From the very same account.

Posting a picture of her new accessories store in Saudia Arabia's holy city of Mecca - don't worry, we weren't fully aware of this best-selling handbag line either - Paris caused a backlash of abuse from an insulted Islamic community, with some claiming it as an "affront" to the "principal sanctuary" of the religion.

Her bubbly Tweet - "Loving my beautiful new store that just opened at Mecca Mall in Saudi Arabia!" - was met with disgruntled comments such as: "Saudi claim there are other ways to allow for pilgrims, and if religiosity is of such importance, why is Paris Hilton being allowed a store in Mecca?" The first comment was merely the understated, yet powerful "R u kidding?", according to the New York Daily News .

Undeterred by "The world is a corrupt place at the moment. Someone please send me to Mars" comments, the 31-year-old quietly reminded the Twitter sphere that this is her fifth store in Saudi Arabia alone, and number 42 in total.

Kate Middleton Refuses Kim Kardashian Gift!

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian reportedly sent the Duchess of Cambridge some of her Dorothy Perkins-stocked Kardashian Kollection clothing, only to receive the package straight back with a royal no thank you.

The Kardashian clan (that's Kim, Khloe and Kourtney, aka KKK) have been in town promoting their brand spanking - so-tight-you'll need-spanx-to-wear them - clothing Kollection of late, and it appears they have maximised their marketing strategies while here.

The Los Angeles-based trio, who found fame with their reality TV show Keeping up with the Kardashians , have reached out to the Duchess of Cambridge in the hope that she might give all that leopard print and bodycon her royal seal of approval.

The curvaceous trio sent the Duchess a selection of the Kollection's keyhole cut-outs, sheer panels and floaty drape sleeve blouses, according to The Daily Mail . And though the Duchess isn't one to shy away from a more risqué outfit, the 30-year-old Royal reportedly sent the package back.

Commenting on the bolshy postal move, an insider told the Daily Star that the Kardashian's "hoped Kate might be seen wearing one of the designs out in public, which would give their fashion credentials a huge boost." Continuing to expand on the sister's global domination strategy, the source clarified: "The Kardashians want to be as big in the UK as they are in America, and think associating themselves with the Royals, especially Kate, will help them achieve that."

A representative of the Duchess noted: "In general terms, the policy of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is not to accept any unsolicited gifts unless the sender is known personally to His or Her Royal Highness. Any such gifts are returned to the sender with thanks and an explanation of Their Royal Highnesses' policy."
