Selfridges opens largest men’s shoe department in the world

With over 3,000 styles to choose from, there's no longer an excuse to be having a 'shame on shoe' moment on Oxford Street.

Luxury department store Selfridges, the behemoth which commands an entire block on Oxford Street, has today unveiled its new men's footwear concept.

Its first floor is now home to 72,000 pairs of shoes, making it the largest men's shoe department in the world, with over 250 brands and a made-to-order shoe salon.

Prices range from a reasonable £25 for Havaianas flip-flops to over £10,000 for bespoke boots by Tom Ford. There is even a section dedicated to driving shoes - Selfridges' best performing men's shoe category - with practical offerings from the likes of Tod's, Gucci, Carshoe, Bottega Veneta and Prada housed in a salon inspired by the bodywork of vintage Ferraris.

"The new space is one of the cornerstones of our Menswear Masterplan - the ongoing development of men's fashion at Selfridges," explained David Walker-Smith, director of menswear at the chain.
The concept follows in the footsteps of the women's Shoe Galleries, which launched at the Oxford Street site in 2010. Shoe giant Kurt Geiger, who owns hundreds of shoe departments in stores across the country, is responsible for overseeing the edit of casual and luxury shoes.

A host of brands new to the Selfridges footwear roster, such as Kenzo, McQ, Burberry and Barbour have been welcomed into the fold while Lanvin, Versace, Dr. Martens and Trickers have all created styled exclusive to the store. In February next year, Christian Louboutin's red-soled men's collection will be housed in a dedicated boutique - a world first for the French designer.

"Our aim is to truly amaze our customers, and take ownership of core categories within our business by offering the very best international brands within bespoke retail environments," added Walker-Smith.
Just last week the retailer announced sales had broken the £1 billion barrier for the first time in its 103-year history.

Women paint their shoe soles Red to get Louboutin look for less!!

Sales of red gloss paint have 'rocketed' 40% at Homebase as women find the cheapest way to get the Louboutin look is to do it yourself.

Wannabe Victoria Beckhams are buying red tester paint pots and painting the soles of their shoes to recreate iconic Louboutin heels on a budget.

Sales of red gloss colours such as Duracoat's 'Flame' and 'Show Stopper' have soared by 40 per cent due to women copying the Louboutin shoes worn by their style icons.

Christian Louboutin famously came up with the idea of giving all his designs a distinctive red sole in 1992 after painting an assistant's nail polish onto the bottom of a pair of shoes, because he felt the shoes "lacked energy". A legend was born, and in no time, flashing a red sole became a badge of honour for the fashion pack and Hollywood stars alike.

Claire Stevenson, 24, a PA from Croydon, wanted her dream pair of Louboutins to wear to her cousin's wedding and confessed to using the DIY trick.

She said: "There was no way I could afford to buy a pair of Louboutin heels, but I had my heart set on them and felt the pressure to be fashionable at the occasion.
"I bought a £20 pair of plain black shoes and a tester pot and recreated the designer look at home. I carefully painted the soles, let them dry overnight, and by the next day they were ready to wear.

'I received so many compliments at the wedding about my gorgeous shoes but I didn't have the heart to confess they were DIY fakes. It was such a success I plan on doing the same for another pair of heels."
Sad, it is… If you cannot afford it, simply don’t buy it. You can always find your style or even come up with your own. Just don’t ruin legacies!

Anna Dello Russo 4000 Pairs of Shoes!

Anna Dello Russo Editor At Large, creative consultant to Vogue Japan and ex Italian Vogue Editor has 4000 pairs of Shoes. Now thats a Record!
She has two apartments one for her and one for her closet. All I can say is Adopt me Please!
She is one of the most Fashionable women, with over 250 pairs of black tuxedo jackets and a huge collection of clothes, including exotic Furs.

" I was crazy about fashion from the day I was born" She says. At the age 13 Anna first buy was Fendi and she hasn't stopped shopping since.

" I remember because I used to go to school with my collection of Fendi bags- wallet, bag, umbrella" She told New York Magazine

In Dell Russo two apartments she keeps one for herself and one for her huge walk in closet. Dell Russo doesn't want moths eating away at her clothes, they have to be protected and kept at the right temperature. Well off course they need protection, imagine all that designer wear, well who could blame her.

"Collecting clothes is complicated because the clothes need a space and the right temperature. You really destroy clothes if you leave it there, no? It's dusty, its hot-it ruins the clothes. It's so freezing in my house! The clothes need to be cold, " She told New York magazine.

Now there's a woman who loves her clothes. Dell Russo is very organised all her new buys are put front-row and the previous ones and are stacked behind. In with the New out with Old!
Dell Russo isn't a fan of vintage and loves her outfits straight from the run way.... " I hate vintage clothes. I love the smell of a new store, not an old dress" She tells W magazine.

Dell Russo is an expensive lady with very expensive taste, luxury all the way. She does have amazing style and can pull of anything.
